Tenosynovitis is a chronic, aseptic inflammatory reaction, caused by mechanical friction to the sheath around the tendon, usually classified as RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury). Tenosynovitis is very common clinically and can occur to any age, especially in
middle-aged women.
Symptoms of tenosynovitis:
Joints feel pain during movement, joints snap or noose.
Tenderness in the affected area.
Banded ridges can be presented along the tendon sheath.
Limited function: some movements cannot be completed or joints cannot be exerted.
Common behaviors and factors that tend to induce tenosynovitis in daily life:
Long-time use of computers and mobile phones.
Laundry, cooking or cleaning.
Specific occupations, typists, instrumentalists, porters, etc.
How to treat tenosynovitis:
Surgical treatment: During the operation, the doctor cuts open the tendon sheath. Release the adhesion of tendon sheath and tendon tissue, restore motor function.
Conservative treatment:
Medication: non-prescription pain relievers.
Ice compress: use ice packs to conduct ice compress to the affected joint.
Physiotherapy: Under the guidance of professional physiotherapists, learn how to relax the tension of the tendons in the affected area, how to strengthen the relevant muscles, relieve joint pain, and avoid irritating tendons and tendon sheaths.
Braces: Wearing a brace or splint to stop the joint movement and make it fully rest.
Daily Prevention:
Strike a balance between work and rest, do not repeat a single action for a long time.
Do some stretching and relaxation movements to avoid excessive tension in the muscles and joints during the breaks.
Manual workers should receive appropriate training and learn how to use tools and use force scientifically before taking the job.
Warm up before exercise, after then there should be a buffering process to relax gradually.
If a joint has suffered tenosynovitis or other types of injury in the past, pay more attention to take care and do not overuse it.
The most critical part in the treatment of tenosynovitis is to restrict joint movement so that it can get adequate rest. Here is a Simple Medical brace for prevention and treatment of tenosynovitis and thumb injury-- Thumb Brace W1.
